Scientist in the Making: Lab and Inquiry Based Learning
My students need lab simulations and materials to make sense of how science actually applies in the real world.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Thomas's classroom raised $791
This project is fully funded
My Students
I don't think I have ever been as enthusiastic as my students are to go into the lab setting and actually conduct investigations into the unknown...I want them to experience so much more!
Most of my students are lower level learners that have never been pushed.
In my school district we encourage "Learning on the Edge of a Cliff" where our students are exposed to being pushed to the limits so they can reach new heights. I am very excited to incorporate more hands on activities into their learning experience.
My Project
Most of the supplies I am requesting are for laboratory simulations that are not only interesting to students, but will also promote and facilitate advanced learning as established per our state's standards. Through the incorporation of these laboratory materials, students will be able to see how the cell processes energy, how genetics contributes to the world's diversity, and how important it is to learn about microbe transmission (among other things).
In the sciences, laboratory learning is essential for students to be able to put the pieces of the science puzzles together.
Because students have varied learning styles, the incorporation of verbal, visual, and hands-on learning is essential. By supporting this project, we are able to expose students to a more intense science curriculum that may encourage them to pursue a continued education in scientific areas of need.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
