This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a math teacher, I use technology every day to enhance student learning and engagement. One key tool we rely on regularly is the scientific calculator, which helps students explore math concepts, perform complex calculations, and build confidence in their problem-solving skills. However, a challenge we face is not having enough scientific calculators for every student to use consistently. I’m requesting additional calculators to keep in the classroom so that all students have reliable access to this essential tool, regardless of their ability to bring one from home.

Having a class set of scientific calculators will make a significant difference in student learning by ensuring everyone is equipped and ready to participate fully.

With calculators in hand, students gain greater independence in their work. They’re able to check their thinking, take on more challenging problems, and persevere through multi-step tasks with more confidence.

These tools don’t just help with the math—they empower students to believe in their ability to succeed. When students have access to the resources they need, they can engage more deeply, collaborate more effectively, and stay focused on learning instead of feeling stuck or discouraged.
