Scientific Calculators are Vital

Help me give my students a classroom set of scientific calculators. Some students cannot afford them.

My Students

I teach over 100 students and love to challenge them and see them rise to the occasion. Our small Charter High School provides a unique opportunity for outstanding faculty-student relationships. Our students often mention that one of the reasons they love our school is that the faculty takes time to mentor them and encourage them on a routine basis.

My students come from one of the highest poverty areas in the state of Florida, but they are hard-working and are determined to get the best education that they can attain.

Some of my students move on to become the first member of their family to attain a post-secondary education.

My Project

Students will benefit greatly from having these calculators readily available in the classroom. Students often come unprepared for math class when they do not bring a calculator because they cannot afford one, they purchase the wrong type of calculator, or they simply forget to bring them.

Students need to have access to calculators just like these, in order to gain confidence and be prepared for state tests.

I plan to keep a classroom set of these calculators for students to use if they do not have their own. The great thing about these calculators is that they work very similarly to the virtual calculator they will use on the computer when they take the state tests in Florida for Algebra 1 and Geometry.
