Science With LEGOS

My students need the LEGO education simple machines set to learn, hands on, the concepts of push and pull in relation to motion.

My Students

Our students are amazing kids. They have high energy and even higher learning needs. Over fifty percent of our students are on an individual education plan for learning disabilities. Since our school is a low-income school, many of them do not have warm clothes for winter weather or healthy food to eat on the weekends.

They work very hard and are highly motivated to do their best!

Our students love to move and be active! We try to provide our students with as many "magical moments" as possible!

My Project

In kindergarten, one of our science standards is "Push and Pull of Motion." Research shows that students learn exponentially more by creating models with their own hands, and collaborating with partners to refine their ideas and learning.

The LEGO set will help students create models to solidify learning of push and pull of motion.

This set will allow my students to deepen their learning by creating, modifying, reworking, and improving their models. The LEGOS includes different parts of simple machines which hopefully will set the foundation for an interest in the STEM fields, laying strong foundation in science incorporating creativity.
