Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I would love for my students to not just memorize information, but understand information, so that five years from now my students will remember what they learned and apply it to their everyday life. I want my students to appreciate science and take it to the next level.

My students are bright and energetic children.

Most of them come from a very low socioeconomic background. Their environment is very limited, but that doesn't prohibit them from wanting to learn and having a positive attitude. Most of my students don't have resources at home to help build their knowledge, and the school is not to the same level technologically as the surrounding districts in the state. All my students need is the opportunity to learn, and build upon their natural curiosity of life. When this happens not only will they be able to compete with the rest of society, they will be able to become proud of themselves knowing they accomplished something extraordinary.

My Project

My students will use these Zee pads daily in class. It will engage them by providing simulations, activities and visual aids. It will also provide excellent instructional strategies that keeps my classroom active and most of all a classroom where learning takes place. There are many different models that will help my students visualize, and subsequently understand the nature of science. Science is sometimes abstract which makes it difficult for students to appreciate the subject, but with the Zee Pads I believe real life applications can help them grasp an understanding of science. My class has an End of Course state exam. I will truly believe their test scores will increase.

My students will really appreciate the fact that someone cares about their education.

When students know that you care, not only will they perform better, they will do better. Sometimes all they need is just a little push. Education is their key to the future. Without it they will be left behind. I want them to be able to have the same keys as everyone, and know that the sky is the limit. Years from now my students will say that the reason they have succeeded is because a teacher cared.
