FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Fraas's classroom raised $294
This project is fully funded
I am a first grade teacher and teach a variety of subject matter from reading and math to science and social studies. The school that I teach in is a Title I school whose students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, many of whom do not speak English at home. These elementary students also tend to come from single parent homes, have grandparents raising them, or are in financial need.
I would love to bring more science into my classroom, but I find it very hard to do so when the funds are not available. Our school budget this year was cut drastically. As a teacher I spend a lot of my own money buying basic supplies (crayons, paper, pencils, glue sticks) and do not have the funds to buy science kits for students to use and learn from.
I would love to teach my students more about plants and animals using science activity kits that would bring a hands-on learning experiences to my students. I would also like to teach my students about the different types of matter and about the solar system. I could show them pictures and read out of a textbook, but I would not be doing justice for my students. I want to give my students an experience that they will be able to remember by doing hands-on experiments and activities. As a teacher, I feel that it is my duty to bring experiences into the classroom to help my students learn, understand and experience things that are around them.
My students need a solar system tub, a state of matter tub, an exploring bugs activity center, and an exploring plants science center.
