Creativity, imagination, problem solving, and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.
We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.
My Project
Since we have returned to school, I have to speak louder when I teach because I'm wearing a mask. By the end of the day, my voice feels strained, dry and sore. I've read that many teachers across the country are wearing voice amplifiers so students are able to hear their teachers more clearly. Many teachers claim these amplifiers have been lifesavers while teaching in the classroom.
I would love to add some more science models to our collection so students can grasp a better understanding of concepts we teach.
We also use a lot of consumable materials in science and during classroom transformations that need to be replaced each year. The majority of my items requested will replace these engaging, consumable materials. I love being able to display visuals of science and social studies topics such as the desert, space and Abraham Lincoln. These cut outs will be used to decorate the room during these units of study to engage students in discussions.
After reading research about diffusers in the classroom, I would love to diffuse oils to help my ADHD students focus and all students to breath in scents to improve their moods, especially since we are required to wear masks all day.
