Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My urban 3rd graders are mostly English language learners. They are very motivated to learn and need many experiences to build their content knowledge and academic performance. Throughout the day, they need to be exposed to learning experiences that engage them, especially in the areas of science.

They need meaningful experiences to help them build their understanding of the concepts of programming, math skills, strengthen their confidence, and demonstrate their creativity as they work in small groups to code using Ozobots and Dash robots.

My Project

Science Centers have become my 4th graders favorite time of day this year. Students have the opportunity to work in small groups on engineering and design process, coding, and inquiry based projects.

Learning to Code is essential for my students to be innovative, creative, and build confidence in this new digital world we're living in.

These materials include Ozobots and Dash robots which are fun and interactive ways for students to work in small groups and learn programming. Specifically, these robots come ready to use in an intermediate classroom with structured lessons at first and then the versatility to be creative.
