Science Technology

Help me give my students an Asus chromebook to do research in the classroom. The audio splitters will allow 2 students to use 1 chromebook at the same time while reducing noise in the room.

My Students

Do you remember classrooms that used just books to learn facts? My students learn best using technology. It is difficult to get excited about data that is just on paper, but empowering students through art truly engages them. They can't wait to come to class and explore. My students make gains in learning as independent learners, researching facts at their own pace.

Envision the classroom of the future where students create their own learning experiences in a Maker classroom with science technology stations.

My 6th grade science classes are part of a public school in a growing suburban town in NH. Middle school students learn more by doing than reading. Science class is the perfect place to make discoveries. As the new national science standards are implemented, the focus is to develop STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) lessons. They love to make connections to real world problems. Instead of hearing, "Why do we need to learn this?" I get students who can't wait to do things like forensics or other explorations. We use Google Classroom for our lessons. We wish to lessen our carbon imprint on the environment by using less paper and Chromebooks are the gateway to achieving this.

My Project

Help the future! My students love our maker classroom. We animate, we build, and we learn by doing! To show a true understanding of science concepts, my students make stop-action animations about science topics like the rock cycle. Imagine a classroom where students pick up a Chromebook and go online to gather research or do virtual labs. They use Google Slides for presentations of their research.

My students will use animation apps to create visuals of science concepts which solidifies their learning and enables them to teach others about science concepts.

Chromebooks are the pathway to going paperless, and they will bring our classroom into the 21st-century learning style. My sixth-grade science students are full of curiosity. They have great questions about how our world works, and I hope to guide them to some answers. They want to help the environment. Students will find learning more meaningful if they make the discoveries themselves rather than just get notes from a teacher. They also have many concerns about actions that mankind does that impacts nature. Going paperless is not easy in a middle school, but the Chromebook will eliminate a lot of paper worksheets. My students will be proud of their contribution to improving our world.

You can change their world! Your generous donation will inspire my students. They will excitedly look forward to each time they can use the Asus Chromebook. Animations will teach other students, too. You can help them develop an environmental conscience as we continue our education without using paper and destroying trees. They will become global citizens as they mature and know they can make a difference to save our planet. They will thankfully know that your generosity sparked their discoveries.
