Help me give my students STEM materials like this STEM Bundle and Learn to Code File FolderGames. I want a STEM station equipped with materials that will engage students in critical thinking. These materials will help strengthen my students' problem solving skills with standards based inquiry.
Many of my students come from low-income households and my school had previously been very transitional for both students and teachers. My first year here, I did a lot of work to earn the trust of my students and show them that I was there for the long haul. Once I got their trust, I could start teaching them.
My students are eager to learn.
They come in every day, ready to learn and see what I have planned for them. I have paid for many resources with my own money and my students have dived eagerly into each new activity. I give my students as many resources as I can in order to engage their learning. I want to keep improving my classroom in order to deepen their learning and give them new challenges.
4th grade is focused on STEM in the Fall with our Maker's Mill project, however I want to incorporate STEM in the classroom everyday!
Each year, my kids have taught me how to be a better teacher. With more resources, I can teach them how to be better students!
My Project
These STEM materials will bring more hands-on learning opportunities to my students. The activities in the STEM bundle correlate with many of our 4/5 science standards. Students will be able to learn new and challenging material through inquiry. The books included will give students a way to anchor their learning. Iggy Peck, Architect provides a fun narrative and engaging narrator, which will provide the 'hook' for my lessons. Coding is a newer focus that will prepare students for future jobs. However, coding is an abstract idea, so with the coding folders, students will learn how to code in a tangible way.
