This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very curious about science in third grade! I have noticed that the standards are inquiry-based, and build into higher level thinking connections within all of the standards. Since science can be taught in various ways, we need supplies that will support students' understanding of science standards in third grade! The supplies for this project include composition notebooks, pencils, markers, highlighters, a few STEM kits, and adhesive hooks. The composition notebooks will be used for students to write about the science standards they are learning about. It will also be a place for students to write their science vocabulary during the school day. The pencils and markers will be used to make connections between science content, and the markers will be used to draw diagrams and pictures to support science vocabulary and connections. The highlighters will be used to highlight science vocabulary and comprehension skills within science passages and packets. The adhesive hooks will be used for students to access their science vocabulary cards throughout the school day. Last but not least, the STEM kits will be used for students to support them with deeper connections with engineering/building of skills. I am so excited about these tools and resources for next year! Not only can they be used for science content, but for content in various subject areas.
