Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 22 curious young minds at a title one school in South Carolina. These students come from all different backgrounds, but the majority of the students I serve come from low-income backgrounds. This means that their family's and our school's main focus is to meet their basic needs and also to provide them with student-centered learning and opportunities at school they may not otherwise have.

My goal for this project is to include experiential learning and have them be as hands on as possible.

Our curriculum does not lend itself well to engaging these children in ways that spark their curiosity and interest in the world around them. I am hoping that with these tools, they will be able to interact with each other through inquiry-based learning and learn many life skills.

If you are able to donate, you'd be contributing to some really awesome science and STEM kits that will allow children opportunities to get their hands on materials and use curiosity about the way things work to build and learn! This is an essential part of becoming an engaged and active learner.
