Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are high achieving, motivated and hard working kids. They come from all around Contra Costa County, creating a very diverse culture at school. Even though they are all different, these students have a way of making all students feel included. Being a science teacher, I teach students with all types of learning abilities.

I love seeing my advanced students working with students who need more support.

I encourage my students to work with each other to figure out challenging chemistry or biology concepts and they are always willing to step up to the plate. They amaze me every day with their dedication to educate themselves and ability to work thorough difficult concepts.

My Project

This project will benefit six science classes for a number of years. Students will be able to use the tablets to create lab reports online while gaining experience with Excel, Google Docs, and science writing skills. They will be able to use the tablet on a daily basis, with interactive practice activities that break down complex chemistry, biology and zoology topics. Students will be able to read current event journal articles, analyze other scientist's writing skills, and respond to controversial science topics.

The Amazon Fire Tablets will switch my class from being a pencil and paper class to a 21st century skill-building science class.

Through Google Classroom, students will be able to access interactive homework assignments, virtual labs to increase understanding of difficult topics, and provide electronic exit tickets to track student learning. The Amazon Fire Tablet will allow students to collaborate on group projects and peer review lab reports and journal responses. It is a key component in preparing students for a 21st century STEM career.
