My Project
Some people say that science is all about memorizing facts and concepts. As a biology teacher, I disagree! I can hardly be expected to memorize every factoid and concept the moment I see it and I don't expect my students to do it either. To help them, I like to provide a science journal. These science journals have been used to write daily journals and goal progress, take notes, draw diagrams, and record lab data and observations. The journals are a tool for students to record their learning as we apply it to various phenomenon and real world issues. This is especially important for my students with cognitive impairments who may have issues with memory or need a visual aid to reference for the future and for my students who are learning English! But not all students can buy a separate set of supplies for each class so I prefer to provide it for them when I can.
Science journals are a lifeline for students in my classroom when we take quizzes, review for finals, reference earlier learning, and collaborate on labs and assignments.
Not to mention, some students love to express themselves and include some amazing drawings in their spare time! With your help, my students this year can continue to succeed in biology with a science journal to follow along in their learning journey!
