Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Environmental Science class is studying air and water pollution and acid rain. These fun lab kits would help my students learn their material easier.

It includes Water Testing: Biological Factors Kit.

This lab activity enables students to monitor water quality and determine the Water Quality Index (WQI) for several local test sites. The materials in the kit are sufficient for 32 students working in groups of 4.

Air Pollution and Vehicle Emissions 8-Station Kit. The kit is designed for students to Investigate relationships involved in air pollution due to burning fossil fuels, exploring the Air Quality Index, and discussing the health hazards associated with fossil fuel pollution, along with steps that can be taken in daily living to reduce air pollution. The kit Includes materials for a class of 32 students working in 8 groups of 4

with Acid rain and Erosion. In this activity, students expose many rock materials and metals, both are naturally-occurring and common in construction, to an acidic environment and examine the reaction of these materials in contrast to the same materials exposed to normal rain (tap water). They will also see how the rates of erosion and weathering may increase rapidly, depending on the degree of acidity in the precipitation. There are enough materials for 15 groups. This includes one bag each of marble, brick, granite, limestone, and sandstone chips, one bag of steel, copper, and zinc shot, three packages of sulfuric acid concentrate (to make 500 ml each), 120 disposable measuring cups.
