Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Motion and life cycle are difficult standards to master for a seven year old. However, I want to make it as easy for my students as playing Tic-Tac-Toe. I am a second grade teacher in a low socioeconomic community of wonderful students who have a strong desire to learn but lack the background knowledge and English skills. Few of my students are given the support they need at home, and I feel an urgency to provide them with extra support at school! To help them on their learning journey, I am looking for activities to introduce basic science standards in a fun and exciting way!
My students are very bright. However, motion and gravity concepts always seem to be a stumbling block where my students need reinforcement. Working on science worksheets makes learning of these concepts tedious and dreary!
To reinforce essential science concepts, I plan to utilize resources that are exiting such as ready-to-use games with which students can play independently! In the fun-filled science games, they can reinforce basic academic skills. Many of the games are for group and partner activities. Many times, students learn the best from working together. These group games and activities will do just that!
The resources I need are hands-on science activities that will help my students to master California science standards. These resources will brighten up our science center. Your help will provide my students with engaging hands-on activities that will assist in understanding of such challenging math concepts like motion. Your support will ensure that my students get the chance to work in small groups to stimulate their academic growth. You will provide my students with science activities that will keep them engaged and interested in science class.
