Do you remember sitting in science class and being bored out of your mind because the teacher read out of a textbook? Well, I am not that kind of teacher and that is not how I want my students to learn.
My students come from many economic backgrounds.
They are from many countries around the world and they are at different academic levels. We range from special education students and very high functioning students. They attend and expeditionary learning where textbooks are not used and we rely on experiences and field work to teach all subjects. We believe in cross-curricular learning expeditions.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of incline planes to begin our collection of kinesthetic materials for students to get to not only learn science, but to experience science. These materials will assist students' understanding of friction and its relation to the angle of the inclined plane. These materials will also be used in conjunction with our current materials for the understanding the forces involved in moving various objects up an inclined plane.
These materials are crucial my students to truly understand friction.
It is a chance for students to interact with science and realize how important science is to our everyday lives. These materials will help students proficiency in simple machines for our state science exams.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
