This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Touch a scientist and you touch a child. -Ray Bradbury As a teacher I have the privilege to witness children's natural curiosity about science. Some of the questions I've been asked are: How do plants know how much water to absorb? Can a mongoose really kill and eat a snake? And so many more.

My amazing group of second graders highly anticipate learning and experiencing science.

It is their absolute favorite subject. However, due to the limited resources in many of their homes, the community, and school, my students' actual hands-on experience in science is very limited. Our school is a Title 1 school. This means that most students are below the poverty line and qualify for free meals at school.

My Project

My students will have new, updated, and complete science materials to engage in effective science lessons. Science time has always been something they look forward to, but with these materials they will be able to experience science in a way they have never have in the past. My students will also be successful at learning and experiencing science as many children around the nation are.

The materials I've requested will aid and transform my students' experience in learning science from proficient to outstanding.

Understanding science is necessary in our daily lives. Please help my students understand the world they live in just a little bit more.
