My Students
I'm a passionate, bilingual math/science teacher who teaches two groups of students. My students are enthusiastic, motivated, curious individuals who are currently in 4th grade.
My students consist of ESL/Bilingual learners, who live in the city of Chicago and most of them come from low income homes.
Most of the students at our school are ESL/Bilingual learners, who come from limited means. However, the school has made tremendous strides and is currently a level 1+ school, which is the highest level a school can have. This demonstrates the dedication and commitment the students have towards their own learning.
My Project
In my classroom, we usually do hands-on science investigations or activities first to make students think more deeply about science. After the investigations, students read about what they just investigated or experienced. Students tend to be more invested when they have already put in the work and tend to become more curious to find out the how or why especially when looking at real world applications.
This complete set of NCSS books will make a difference in my students' learning because by having more nonfiction science texts in our library, students will not only comprehend the science more but also improve their reading comprehension and enhance their vocabulary.
