My Project

Over the last two years I have been applying for grants so my students could build high quality, cigar box style guitars as part of our waves and sound unit. This year a number of organizations stepped up to make this dream a reality. I designed a guitar that relied heavily on our laser cutter to make the parts for the guitars. Unfortunately, our laser stopped working while preparing this project. I have tried working with customer service to repair our laser but they are not able to help us.

This project is for a laser cutter/engraver that will allow us to complete our guitar project.

Our current laser has become one of the most used tools in our maker space. It has allowed my students to turn their curiosity and creativity into tangible products. It has put the A in my STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) classroom. Art helps make science more relatable to students who do not see themselves as scientists. For that reason, replacing our laser cutter is one of my highest priorities.
