Mrs. Hack from Gulfport MS is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a body system's activity chart, a "zoom scope" microscope, a set of prepared slides for the microscope, and a set of reward wristbands.

My classroom is in a Title One elementary school in South Mississippi. Our students come from low income families who are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Many have not moved back into their homes, because they are still rebuilding. Approximately 95% of our students eat free or reduced breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.
My precious students are struggling with the recovery process and the added pressures of everyday life after a disaster. We are on our way to recovery through the help of many generous donors and volunteers who work with our students on a daily basis to make sure they are able to succeed in the classroom. Science is a subject that is now being tested in my state. My students learn best when they are able to interact with the learning process. Interactive activities that supplement the science curriculum are in short supply, since we are having to replenish materials in the wake of massive budget cuts.
I am requesting your help with a 'zoom scope' that connects to the TV and allows groups of students to view specimens together. This will allow children to interact and cooperatively view specimens of various types. In order to use the microscope to its full potential, we need a set of prepared slides that include cells and other items. I am requesting a body systems chart which is a child sized outline of the human body. Students will interact with the chart by building and labeling the major body systems which include skeletal, digestive, nervous, and circulatory. Finally, I am asking for a set of reward wristbands. All students love a 'pat on the back'. These colorful reward bands have inspirational messages, such as 'Star Student' and 'Outstanding'. They are intended to help keep students excited about doing their best.
This project will help my students by allowing them to interact with Science on a variety of levels. They are eager learners and have an endless amount of curiosity. With your generous donation, you can help instill a desire for life-long learning in these students. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read and consider my proposal.
