Help me give my students get needed scientific tools, such as microscopes and slides that are no longer available to us due to the Campfire in Paradise, CA.
My students are resilient. They are from the fire affected areas of Paradise, CA. Over 90% of my students' homes were destroyed by fire and their school is damaged and unusable at this time. My students are resilient. Even before the fires, many of my students struggled with poverty and homelessness, for them, school is a refuge... a place to get a good meal, to get encouragement and a warm smile. It is a place where they can strive toward success and feel in control of their lives.
Science is a subject where my students learn about about our amazing Earth, how their bodies work, and the environment around them.
My students are actively engaged in project-based learning and work hard to develop solutions for real world problems.
My Project
Our students no longer have access to important scientific tools such as microscopes, microscope slides and lab kits they used to learn important scientific skills. We are starting from scratch after the campfire destroyed Paradise, we are teaching out of temporary buildings and we are in dire need of instructional materials to allow us to keep teaching and learning.
When our school reopens in January, we will be teaching without many of the scientific tools we have acquired over many years and we need to replace them so we can continue learning.
Please help us rebuild our school so we can begin learning again.
