Science Program for English Learners

My Students

My school is an urban school in Indianapolis, Indiana and is unique in that we have students from 35 different countries and we have 27 languages spoken by our students and their families. Many of these students are new arrivals to the United States and many are refugees. Others are second-generation immigrants. For many of our students, school is the only consistent part of their lives. Our ESL students comprise approximately 60% of our school population.

The diversity is a wonderful environment to work in and the ESL students are eager to learn to speak, write, read, communicate, and interact in English.

I love how hard my students work and I love how supportive their parents are of their education.

My Project

My English Learners love science but our school doesn't have a set curriculum right now nor is most of what you find online very English Learner friendly.

I want to provide my English Learners with fun, engaging lessons on Generation Genius that includes direct vocabulary instruction, readings, videos, quizzes and more.

These lessons will help all learners with the science standards and will also help me provide effective instruction through the fabulous teacher plans.

This program also includes learn from home links the kids can use if we have anyone quarantined or we have a snow day.
