This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love Science. Teaching it and watching kids make connections is such an awesome experience. However, a year of my science class can be a bit taxing on a child's memory. That is why I want to reinforce these science concepts with something kids love...games! Why didn't I think of this before?

The children of my school are heavily disadvantaged.

This means that most of the kids are on free and reduced lunches and are considered "high risk" students. Our school is in an urban environment and unfortunately this influences the children in more ways than one can imagine. It is my task to find ways to engage these students beyond the textbook! I welcome the challenge!

My Project

I have selected an assortment of games which were designed to reinforce the scientific concepts which my students learn throughout the year. It is important to me that these games be non-digital in that I want there to be real scientific conversation involved in the playing of the games. My goal is to inspire scientific thinking and dialogue in these kids! Friendly competition to drive the learning!

I love teaching Science!

Call me crazy, but I want the kids in my class to love learning Science! It can be done! As a teacher, I must be inventive and open minded to new ideas, new approaches. This project is a sneak attack on the minds of the children of my community! Students will learn, and want to learn! They tell me the children of this country are falling behind in Science. Well, I am on the front lines and to this I say, "Join me! Let's teach these kids!"
