Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The models, diagrams, and lab equipment is meant to help support student learning. Most of my students are kinesthetic and visual learners. Unfortunately, the science curriculum does not come with models that students can explore, which makes it difficult for some of my students to engage with complex science concepts/phenomena. The few diagrams that I have been able to purchase and display in my classroom has increased student curiosity. I have also noticed students refer and point to the information in the diagram to make connections about topics that may be related to what we are learning. For example, 8th grade students learn about the different phases of the moon and the solar system diagram allows them to visualize the big picture of the moon's impact. Help me incorporate a variety of learning opportunities to my students. I believe that coming into a classroom with physical aids will excite my students, especially when attending a school that cannot fund these types of initiatives.
