My Students

My classroom is located in the south of Salt Lake Valley, Draper. My 5th grade students has learned Chinese since 1st grade. They use Chinese in the classroom to learn different subjects such as science and math. Students are expected to have proficiency in Chinese literacy, writing, and speaking for half of their school day. In order to develop these skills we use many activities and resources every day. As they get to more complex topics, they need additional support in each subject area. We learn math and science in Chinese and we need more materials and technology to help students practice and learn.

My Project

All of my students are learning in Chinese and English. We are using many materials to do experiments. Through hands-on activities, my students get motivated to know concepts behind each science fact.

Learning science in different language can be a big challenge, so providing them different learning experience are significant.

The different seating can help my students to focus on class instruction. Currently my students also has one type of chair. When they sit on floor, it is very hard for them to know where their spots are, so the floor dots can help them mark their spot and sit on the right place without interrupt each other.
