My Students

My students live in a small rural community in the River Valley. Everybody knows everybody. They live in a high poverty area where many come from single-parent homes or homes where their grandparents are their primary caregivers. Job and/or recreational opportunities are limited in this town. My job is to enrich and provide skills above what is taught in the regular classroom. Students thrive on challenges and are eager to learn if you can catch their interest. What better way to do that than to make learning fun and exciting!

My Project

I am looking to get my students excited about Science. Hands-on experiments are the best but quite expensive. I would like to order some science supplies so my students could experiment with the different science concepts and do activities that would actually make it meaningful. We will be using these materials for experiments to learn about conductors, insulators, the engineering process, make water disappear, polymers, solids, liquids, and gases and much much more. Who knows what we will learn with the help of these supplies. Can we make a keyboard move with a banana? Who doesn't want it to snow in August? The possibilities are endless.
