My students need 7 Chromebooks for multiple applications in the classroom and to access current articles, learn research skills, collaborative projects, graphing, and more!
The web is moving faster than our students can keep up! Help me teach them to be resourceful learners. The Internet and computers are much more than Facebook and Wikipedia. With more access to computers in the classroom, I can show them the tools to become better learners and more resourceful users.
I have very motivated students who are eager to learn.
Many students have access to computers at home but do not really know how to use them beyond the basics of social media, video games, and maybe word processing. With more consistent access to computers and the Internet in the classroom, I can help guide how they become productive users and evaluators of the information presented to them. Only through direct guidance can this be achieved, only through a consistent access to computers in the classroom through this project can that be possible.
My Project
These chromebooks will be used very often in my classroom, almost daily. All students have Google Apps for Education accounts. These will be utilized to share data from each table with the class to perform better analyses of labs (labs are done weekly). Computer generated graphs created from that data are skills they will acquire and carry on in to every science class and most careers that they may enter in to. Collaborative projects such as a Facebook like organelle page, a Real Survivor biome project, an interactive personal story, and access to online review sessions, would all be possible if this project becomes funded. The ability to search for journal articles to supplement the findings from their labs and include as citations in lab write ups becomes easier and more organic if they can research a topic while also doing the lab, only possible with chromebooks in the classroom.
Technology integration, true daily integration, can only be achieved through a consistent access to that technology.
Help me create students that are resourceful users of the immense power of technology available at their fingertips!
