My students need hands on Science manipulatives (battery holders, energy sticks, rock and solar system kits) and supports to foster Science learning and understanding.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Maddox's classroom raised $196

My Students
My students are learners, scientists, engineers, mathematicians, explorers, artists, creators and the list goes on. They are eager to learn and love coming to school. Every morning they ask what are we learning today?!
My students are fifth graders that come from various diverse backgrounds.
We are a Title 1 school nestled in the panhandle of Florida on the beautiful Gulf Coast. Our school is crucial part of the community that feeds it. The school is like a family as is our classroom. A family within a family. We instantly bonded as a classroom family taking care of each other and building a support system both socially and academically. My students love to learn and are always eager to jump and help one another learn something new as well as defend our class from nay-sayers. They proudly shine and show their accomplishments and when someone says we can't we show them that we can!
My Project
My students will use these Science Learning Tools to help cement science concepts during Science Lab rotations and stations. My students will learn about electric currents and circuits using the Energy Sticks by creating a human circuit with their peers. The D battery kits are so that when my students build their own circuits the batteries don't shock or burn their fingers! My students will use the rock collection to sort and visually see what the various characteristics are for each rock type. My students will use the solar system kit to discover how the planets look in space compared to the others visually and physically. My students will use the Magic School Bus episodes to access tough concepts in a kid friendly way with the Awesome Mrs. Frizzle to help guide their learning and accompany my teaching.
Donations to this project will help improve my classroom because these are items will give my students the opportunity to take science a step further into their own hands and mind.
So that they can explore and see how these science concepts affect their everyday lives. These items will give them the opportunity to question and explore on their own.
