it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My high school students are coming into high school for the first time in September. It is the start of their educational careers that will be counted towards what they want to do in the future. Being that, students were virtual for the past two years, I want them to come into school and work in a beautiful classroom tailored for science.
Students will be able to do experiments, labs, and create posters or stop motion videos using Play-Doh, pipe cleaners, and markers that will capture what they have been learning in class.
I will be providing various outlets for students to be able to show their creativity based on the topics and units learned in class such as doing science trivia games where science buzzers come to play. This will help create pride in the work that they need to create for the rest of their educational careers. Students will be able to hole-punch their lab work and keep it in a binder with their names labeled on it. Students will be able to use dry-erase boards and markers to show me their answers. They will be able to make posters and booklets based on diseases they have learned. They will use clothespins and yarns, and paper bags to complete experiments with their partners based on the scientific method.
Being a brand new teacher, I don't have any supplies for my classroom. Due to the pandemic, there were budget cuts and we are not able to get funded for materials for the classroom for students to make projects and complete labs. Students are used to seeing how experiments and labs match what they are learning in class. I want to provide different and fun experiences for students to be able to practice what they have just learned.
