My Students

I teach science to 75 fifth graders at a Title I school in a rural setting. We serve a population of racially diverse students, more than half of which are economically disadvantaged. My kiddos love to do experiments and these are a vital part of our Virginia curriculum. Being able to do hands-on science investigations is crucial in developing their critical thinking skills as well as helping them learning to work together. I want to build up my science lab so that we can do more experiments.

My Project

I teach fifth grade science and we do experiments whenever possible. Students must design and conduct experiments as part of our state curriculum. They must know the steps to the scientific method. We have been doing several small experiments each year but I would like to be able to expand and do more. Having these lab supplies will help me do so. We will use these materials to conduct some awesome experiments. My students come eager to learn and they LOVE to do experiments! I can't wait to be able to do even more hands-on experiments with my students this coming school year! Please help my budding scientists get these supplies!
