My students need all of these materials for various hands on learning projects in science lab class. Our school budget is tight, that I must spend at least $600-$800 a year on keeping my supplies full.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are awesome, they all live on or near the poorest street in the state of MA and our school needs some support. When I am able to implement a hands on science experiment/lab activity, the students rise up to the occasion and show us what they know. I see over 600 students a week and can't wait to see them all of them go to college to become a scientist.
The students at Gerena Elementary school have a strong sense of community here at school.
We have a strong focus on teaching, learning, and positive social development and the arts. All of these support the students to become leaders for their peers and all stakeholders in the school. The are always helping out each other, the staff, and our guests when they are here. Our students have reading buddies and give tours when special guests come to visit. Every day is an awesome day when working with our K-5 students.
My Project
These materials will allow students to be engaged in various standards-based learning activities in the field of STEM. My students enjoy project-based learning and when they are able to roll up their sleeves, dive into a science project, and become scientists. These activities not only promote lifelong learning, but ignite the inner scientist in all students and lead them to college.
I know these materials will help out because if I do not get the support I need, many of our hands on projects would not occur.
The various materials I have requested will fit into many different unit themed lab experiments. Working with the states of matter students will get a first hand look at the transformations occur from one state to another. The material will also be used for experiments on the water cycle such as trapping gas in a cup, or making it rain inside of a bottle. Many if not all the items I am requesting can, and will be, used across the curriculum for a variety of hands on learning explorations.
The school budget is so tight, there in no wiggle room for these types of additional materials. So, I go out and buy them so the learning never stops! Thank you for your support to keep my activities engaging, safe, and hands on to meet the diverse needs of all my students in every class, every day. Excellence without excuses is what I tell my students!
