My Students
It is a blessing to walk into the classroom and see eager smiling faces. I work at a Title I school in Virginia that is predominately African American. Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. There are many students who receive weekend food bags. The challenges that some of the students face at home are unimaginable for adults to comprehend. Every year, at least a half of the students have experienced some type of trauma during the course of their lives. However, they are very courageous young people who persevere through the many challenges and traumas that they have experienced in their lives.
Despite all of the negativity that may be in their lives, they continue to come to school every day and learn.
They are eager to learn and enthusiastic about the possibilities of the school year.
The possibilities for my students are endless. It is my job to get them closer their dreams and aspirations. They are truly amazing young people with bright futures.
My Project
The Science journals will help my students record their daily interactions during Science class. They will be able to have all of their information in one place for future reference. Scientific Investigation is very important in the fifth grade. I want my students to have an advantage with science journals.
The Science journals will increase my students' level of inquiry.
It will allow them to explore and inquire about the scientific world around them. We will use the journals to record experiments during our Scientific Investigation unit. The Science journals will be a tangible resource for my students. These journals would be essential to our science success this year.
