My students need science supplies, including a cloud forming apparatus and a solar system model, in order to keep learning interesting and interactive.

My Students

We need models! Not the kind in magazines. We need scaled models to see how the solar system looks and how weather systems change.

My students attend a country school that focuses on project-based learning.

They are bright and enthusiastic, especially when it comes to science. They crave collaborative activities that allow them to solve problems and get their hands dirty, so to speak.

My Project

I'm requesting science materials for my students to use during our human body, weather, and solar system units. In our class, we use 'science' as a verb. My students DO science. In order to make this happen, I must set up a clean, comfortable, and safe learning environment. My student are always engaged in science and several of them tell me it is their favorite subject, but as someone wise once said, "Safety first!" Safety. Learning. Fun. These are the priorities that I focus on during science. This is not the most exciting project on the block, but it is absolutely necessary. I want my students to have a respect for science that goes beyond knowledge. I want them to cherish the method, the journey.

My students don't have a science textbook and I don't use a paced teacher guide.

Instead I center my science curriculum around experiments and projects with the hope that going deep into a few areas will help students build the awe that is so important in science. Instead of memorizing the names of cloud types, my students will CREATE clouds!
