My students need kitchen appliances and utensils such as measuring cups, a mixer, blender, toaster oven, and silverware to complete hands-on cooking experiments
Environmental Science in the Kitchen? Yes! I want my students to learn to help our environment, starting in the kitchen!
We live in a small rural community in South Dakota and our school enrollment is approximately 200 students (preschool-12).
Due to major budget cuts across our state and community, our school has been forced to drastically cut our funding for our programs. Therefore without outside financial support like this, extra projects would not be possible.
My Project
I want to teach my students that helping our environment can start in the kitchen. My middle school students know that we all need to do our part to save our environment, but they forget that this can all start in the kitchen. I want my students to be able to complete hands-on environmental science experiments in the kitchen. We will be using the kitchen appliances and measuring tools to learn the basics of cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, and how this can help our environment!
Planet Disney does a great job of creating my students awareness for our environment, so I want to use this interest to show them how they can continue to help our environment starting in the kitchen.
These kitchen appliances and utensils will allow my students to do many hands-on experiments to improve both the environment and their health!
