This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Dual Language Immersion (DLI) 4th ​​grade students are amazing; they are super resilient children who have adapted to the circumstances that we have had to live in these years. They are excited to learn Spanish and everything related to my culture.

Why do they learn Spanish?

My students know the importance of languages ​​and they know that knowing other cultures helps them to be more empathetic and respect everyone regardless of the language or the place where they were born. Further, there are students who are native Spanish speaking who can learn in both Spanish and English.

I am very proud of my students.

My Project

Science is one of them main content areas taught in the 4th grade DLI class at Riverside Elementary School. Specifically, electricity and circuits is one of the content areas we teach. Some of the required materials to use these materials are batteries, spiral notebooks, writing utensils, and ink to print materials in Spanish.

The parents of our school are committed to the education of their children; however, many of the parents at our school are unable support the funding of these materials.

With this grant, we would be able to provide the materials for the students who otherwise would not be able to provide it for themselves.
