My Students

I teach a science lab resource class for approximately 450 K-5 students at my school in North Carolina! We are located very close to major Army and Air Force bases so we have several military children as well as a very transient, low-income population.

This "lab" class is designed to provide interactive, engaging, hands-on science experiences to enhance the science objectives taught in their classrooms.

My students are very interested in learning science, and are especially enthusiastic about "doing" science!

My Project

I would like some simple cordless microscopes to make it easier for my students to learn how to use them, and to make use of the slides that I recently received from a previous DonorsChoose project!

My 2nd grade students will be able to view slides of animal parts, such as fish scales, butterfly wings, and shrimp eggs, as they learn about the animal kingdoms and life cycles.

My 5th graders will have the opportunity to view slides of real plant and animal cells under the microscopes!

These materials will make our lessons more interesting for my students and help them make real-life connections to the objectives that they are learning!
