Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Although some students face challenges at home, I have explained to my kiddos that this is a safe place to learn and develop skills to succeed. Students are required to walk into our classroom with a positive attitude to get our day started. I greet them with a fist bump and with a cheerful, "Good Morning!" If a student isn't ready to acknowledge me, he/she gets sent back to the line to reflect on the importance of coming in ready for a new adventure.

I teach at V.P.E., a Title I school in Las Vegas where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and supper.

Despite so many hardships, my students are energized to begin learning and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be attend college and or trade school one day.

My Project

My students need five Fire Tablets with cases and protection plans, and science and engineering building sets such as five each K'NEX Machines and SmartLab Toys to utilize at home and have hands on family collaboration and encouragement. By having these STEM hands-on exploration gadgets, will give families the opportunities to participate in designing projects together. It will give students opportunities to learn and create projects that will bring motivation to apply it to school and improve their learning.

With the family collaboration, parents will see how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math has an emphasis on furthering their childrens' education and become more engaged.

That will lead to college bound students.

Having students with English as a second language has at times been a challenge in true unrealized potential. These education toys will give families the opportunity to see their own children's potential and reason to ensure they come to school ready to learn and have fun.
