My Students

Hello! I am a life skills teacher for C.C.S.D. in Utah. I teach students many of whom have multiple and profound disabilities. Many of my students have physical and intellectual disabilities. Each day, my students work hard to make gains towards mastering skills related to their IEP’s as well as connecting and communicating with other students and adults.

My students require many hands-on tasks to better access curriculum and topics.

We work hard every day to build relationships and independence. In my classroom, we believe that every student is capable and growth and learning, no matter what disability they may have.

My Project

Student in the life skills classroom are often not given the opportunity to access science lessons at a level that is appropriate for their learning levels. Due to school being excused for COVID, many of students had zero exposure to any science topics while at home. These tubs and books requested will allow me to teach my students several different science topics as well as differentiate the topics to meet their individual needs. The multisensory approach that comes with the tubs as well as the stories I would use for story-based learning would allow my students to have several exposures to topics and provide them with differentiated ways of demonstrating understanding.

I believe that all students have the ability to learn and grow, and I would love to provide my students access to fun topics such as the solar system and matter, topics which are often thought to be too abstract for students with disabilities.
