My students need the inflatable world globe, food storage containers, pipe insulation, marbles, beads, brass fasteners, flashlights, chalk, markers, twine, and foam balls.
My students are very humble and appreciate of the things that they learn and receive. They are always wanting to learn new things and even the smallest and simplest activity can get them excited about learning. I hope to bring to them a love for science like I had when I was going to school.
My students come from a very under privileged background and I would love to expose them to many different hands on science activities.
I have high hopes that this will spark their interest in science and math, but even more so for them to use their critical thinking skills to problem solve.
My Project
The students will be doing several science inquiries. Students will be using the inflatable globe and flashlights to learn about day and night and learn how the Earth orbits the Sun. The styrofoam balls and will help students learn about the different phases of the moon. The twine and chalk will help students learn the distances between the planets in our solar system. Students will be using the food storage containers and and markers to learn about rocks and minerals and how erosion affects our landscapes. Students will also be using the pipe insulation, marbles, beads, and brass fasteners to learn about energy and motion. They will be making rubber band cars and bumper coasters and will be able to work on their design and engineering skills.
These donations will help shape and expose students with an introduction to learn about the world around them.
In doing these experiments, students will realize that thinking about the world in terms of space, energy, and surface, they can some day help shape our world for a better future.
