This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students really are ready for serious scientific study. The challenge is that adults are quick to dismiss them as “too little” to use authentic scientific tools.

When kindergarteners are treated like serious science researchers, they rise to the challenge.

Science-related toys are great, but they don’t lend themselves readily to scientific inquiry. My students enjoy magnetic toys, and so do I. But I have seen my class absolutely transfixed when observing experiments conducted with genuine lab equipment. Access to high quality magnets with the Magnetic Classroom Attractions Kits for earth science study would make it possible for them to be the ones doing the experiments instead of just watching someone else.
