Help me give my students new technology that they can use for science education. Students will use the Sphero SPRK to code, manipulate, and apply to science curriculum (code the butterfly or plant life cycle).
My students come to school each day demonstrating both determination and passion for learning and success. Living in a very rural area of Upstate New York, my students may not get the same opportunities as others. However, when given the opportunity, they are energized with curiosity. They overcome statistical odds and challenge the obstacles they encounter.
These children bring so much joy to my world because they embrace each school day with a smile and bring new insight to my own passion for teaching and learning.
I've learned so much about my own philosophy of teaching from the experiences these students give to me. They are creative, insightful, humble, and proud to be a part of our classroom community.
My Project
I plan to have students use the Sphero SPRK+ to code and manipulate in order to apply to NYS Next Generation State Standards curriculum. They will work together to demonstrate the different cycles in nature (water cycle, butterfly and plant life cycles). The case will be used to help protect the Sphero.
I want my students to have the best educational experience I can give them, and these items can help immensely.
My students love any opportunity to use technology in the classroom.
The other materials will be used to enhance instruction. The magnetic wands will be used during our forces and motion unit. We will explore properties of items that are magnetic. The butterfly life cycle models will be used as a visual during instruction as will the plant model.
