My students are very energetic and excited to learn. They are friendly and kind and make the days brighter! They love fun hands on experiments and bringing able to work together to solve a problem. They enjoy discovering something new each day. They also enjoy social activities and being silly. Most of these students are below poverty and have unstable home lives. Many are raised by grandparents or single parent homes. Whatever I can do to make school fun and exciting- is what I look forward to.
My 5th grade science classroom has no microscopes. I was very disappointed when I discovered this. This age is so curious and loves to see how things work- what better way then seeing the small details that make everything up? We also have a 9 week unit on the Solar System. I know the inflatable planets hanging from the ceiling will be exciting for them. And lastly, what is a classroom without a pencil sharpener? I have one small handheld one that I pass around, or use other teachers’. This would be a great addition to my classroom! With only $250 provided from the school for the year, it’s hard to stretch and provide students with the needed supplies.
