Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Kindergarten teacher at Caldwell Elementary in Compton, California. We have adopted a new science curriculum for the Kindergarten students. The curriculum lessons feature hands-on activities which require different types of science items such as magnets, a magnifying glass, etc. A science kit made for the Kindergarten level would provide the materials needed for many of the lessons. The students would be able to work with these materials and experience a true scientific experience. The giant Discovery Chest is packed full of objects to explore and experiment with in the classroom. We will be able to use the eyedroppers, straws and measuring cups to study the properties of water; learn about color with the prism and food coloring; observe magnetic forces with all kinds of different magnets, magnetic marbles and iron filings; explore weight and texture with the feely bag and much more. The chest is very good for Earth, Life, and Physical Science lessons. This science kit could be used for many years to increase each students science knowledge.
