This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My seventh grade students really miss their elementary recesses and the chance get outside and run around. I know it is hard for any student to sit still in classrooms all day.

I would love to give my students an opportunity to get outside on beautiful days and engage in a playful kinesthetic activity while learning/reviewing science concepts.

I have always enjoyed a frisbee golf game and think this activity would give my students a chance to learn science in an active setting. My vision: I would spread out baskets marked with a colorful flag all around our sports fields. Students would count the number of throws to get to each “hole”. Students would have to answer that number’s “science related question” on a graphic organizer. The fewer the throws it takes to reach the basket, the easier or lower DOK type of question will be asked. (DOK= depth of knowledge) ie. 3 throws = DOK#1 true or false, 4 throws= DOK#2 describe, and 5 throws=DOK#3 compare/contrast. Each student would complete the course while completing the graphic organizer.
