Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The materials requested in this project will enable my students to learn about science while observing, reading and exploring! This project makes life, space, and physical science come alive through interactive experiences, supported by challenging grade level magazines.
Our life science unit revolves around the amazing process of watching caterpillars turn into butterflies.
This miracle will happen in front of the students, where they can observe each stage, and ultimately celebrate the process as we release the fully developed butterflies.
Kinetic Sand helps us learn about physical science. As we apply the scientific method we can begin to explore the states of matter.
Space science is always fun, but when enriched with visual and manipulative supports it comes alive!
Lastly, with Scholastic Let’s Find Out and Scholastic News magazines they can read about science topics throughout the year. The best part is that they can take these magazines home to practice reading and share with family.
Providing these rich supports to curriculum makes reading and writing fun, and also provides a focus on equity for students who have limited opportunities to engage in meaningful science!
