Setbacks don't define you. A zip code doesn't define you. The students that I have the privilege of teaching come from rough areas where poverty is high, but the drive to succeed is higher. The students I teach are a part of a school that strives for achievement with the integration of community in an arts setting. These students BEAM with creativity and have a love for integrating their artistic abilities within each content area.
My students are brillant, highly motivated people with a love for learning.
With the high poverty level in our community, school supplies are limited. But, that shouldn't take away from the learning that will be done inside the four walls that encompass a safe space for my students to thrive. With your help, my students can have access to the tools and supplies they need to succeed.
Have you ever needed to do something without the means to do it? Do you remember when you would get in trouble in school for not having "being prepared" or focused? Some students don't have the means to come to school with a completely checked off supply list. With the calculators, pens and pads listed in my project, my students can participate in the integration of art and science and create an environment that supports academic achievement.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement through their strengths in art.
My students deserve to be able to use materials that may not be at their disposal because of the lack of income. They deserve the same education that their peers receive in other parts of the state regardless of their zip code or parents financial stability.
We're building future educators, doctors, food service workers, custodians, physicists, musicians, veterinarians, and parents. Big Post-It easel boards will be used for group projects in Animal Behavior for students to draw animal diagrams, timer for students to stay on track throughout class, DNA bead set to visually show the stages of mitosis and meiosis, chalk markers to use to draw on lab stations, class set of calculators, and fluorescent light covers will aid in the academic environment to increase achievement of my students and the future of our community.
