Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would like to start adding reading time in my science classes by introducing small easy to read books about scientists we commonly don't hear about. I would also like to encourage minority students to pursue careers in science by providing reading materials that are inclusive and culturally relevant. The list I selected is only the beginning, I will add more scientists from diverse backgrounds as well as class sets, such as The Hot Zone. Reading a book as a class will help students with their literacy skills , and at the same time we will learn about scientific events. Please help me start this classroom library.
