This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach students with special needs within an elementary school setting. Each student has their own specific challenges. I am committed to helping each student achieve their highest potential. It is very rewarding to see the accomplishments and growth they acquire each year.
Our focus in the classroom is to help students become functional individuals within our society.
My students have value and can enhance our communities with their presence. They bring JOY to all those who have contact with them.
My Project
Having books that can be read out loud to my students containing science concepts will assist with giving them an added interest in science. There is no curriculum for special needs students. As a teacher, I have to research different avenues to supplement the concepts taught. Having books to read out loud can help me direct my students into a discussion on science concepts.
The books listed will help my students acquire some knowledge on basic science; states of matter, human body, food chain, recycling, landforms.
My students love to listen to stories read out loud to them. Having these books will allow me to make reading about science fun!
