This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! I have never seen a class with so much sparkle and drive as them despite the hardships that a majority of them face. My school is a Title 1 school in Northern California where around 85% of students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. In addition to that the school works to help them with clothing from local organizations, food from a food pantry, and fundraising for 5th grade science camp. My students know their hard work will pay off!

My Project

5th grade is an exciting year for students filled with the thoughts of ending their time at grammar school, starting middle school, and of course science camp!

We are looking to run a few of small fundraisers for the remainder of the year to raise money for science camp.

The first would be a student store that includes products students need and want at school, including mechanical pencils and squishy toys. The second, is that we would host a few movie nights and serve dinner/snacks to the attendees. For the movie nights we are hoping to get food service items like plates and napkins.

Getting the school items for the student store, and the food service items for the movie nights would help us to maximize our profits. It also gives us a great opportunity to involve our students in the fundraising by having them volunteer at these events.
